Radio and Broadcasting workshops for Youth

Goals and Objectives
Over the course’s duration, students should acquire:
Ø The ability to operate a standard radio console board.
Ø The ability to use or adapt sound elements to create a commercial and a P.S.A.
Ø The ability to understand the radio departments and positions.
Ø The ability to demonstrate an actual on-air show fully produced with all elements
Course Requirements (16 week program)
Voiceovers: Students are required to write and record one: 30 second Public Service Announcement (P.S.A.). Students are required to create a commercial about a product that would attract listeners. Students will form groups to develop projects and to heighten the discussion aspect of the course.
Journal/Review: Each student will be required to maintain a journal that she or he has done during the semester. Each journal must have a minimum of two voice overs without music as well as two fully completed broadcast entries. (Minimum of four journal entries.)
In-class Writings and Quizzes (5): These assignments provide a means to either review the material or explore their implications. There will be no way to make-up in-class writings assignments for any reason.
